Brian Kavanagh was the offensive star behind the Kansas State victory over Colorado State in 1995. As the backup quarterback, Kavanagh replaced injured starter Matt Miller early in the second quarter and went on to complete 18 of 24 passes for 242 yards, leading the Wildcats to a 54-21 victory.

His performance earned him the Offensive MVP Award. He is just one of three quarterbacks in Pacific Life Holiday Bowl history to throw four touchdown passes in a game.

Bart Oates started at center for BYU from 1980 to 1982, and provided protection for two Pacific Life Holiday Bowl Hall of Fame quarterbacks, Jim McMahon and Steve Young. In his three Holiday Bowl games, he helped the BYU offense score a total of 101 points. As a senior, Oates was second team All-America, and was voted to the Western Athletic Conference All-Decade team for the 1980’s.

Oates started 125 games for the New York Giants and earned two Super Bowl titles in 1987 and 1991. He was named to the NFC All-Pro Team in 1990.

Tony Roberts has been the national radio voice of the Holiday Bowl for 26 years. He has been behind the microphone for each game, except for the inaugural one in 1978. Roberts has been the voice of Notre Dame football for 25 years.

He also provides commentary for the National Football League, daily sports shows and the college basketball game of the week on Westwood One and has covered the last six summer Olympic Games.
