Pacific Life Holiday Bowl Extends Partnership with Big 12 |
The Pacific Life Holiday Bowl and the Big 12 Conference have extended their agreement placing a highly ranked conference team in the bowl annually through 2009, Pacific Life Holiday Bowl President Stephen P. Cushman and Big 12 Commissioner Kevin Weiberg announced today. The four-year extension, which begins with the 2006 game, maintains the bowl's current match-up between the third selection from the Big 12 Conference and the runner-up from the Pac-10 Conference. “The entire Pacific Life Holiday Bowl family is ecstatic to continue the partnership with the Big 12 Conference,” said Cushman. “The match-up we’ve enjoyed between the Big 12 and Pac-10 has brought us some incredible games and memorable finishes. We are excited these two power-house conferences will continue to do battle on the gridiron right here in San Diego each December.” Since the current Big 12 versus Pac-10 match-up began in 1998, the average score is 34-27, with five games decided by seven points or less. The outcome of six games was not decided until the final two minutes of play. Of the seven games played, the Pac-10 has come out on top four times. The 2005 Pacific Life Holiday Bowl will be played Thursday, December 29 at Qualcomm Stadium. Kickoff is 5 p.m. with the pre-game festivities beginning at 4:30 p.m. For ticket information, call the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl ticket office at (619) 285-5059. |
