6th Annual Manpower Outrigger Challenge, Wells Fargo Luau
Outrigger Challenge 2007It’s time to “hang loose”, grab a few friends, pick up some paddles and enjoy a memorable day along Mission Bay. The Manpower Outrigger Challenge and Wells Fargo Luau return to Mission Bay’s Bahia Point along Saturday, April 28.

This sixth annual event is a fund-raiser for the non-profit Pacific Life Holiday Bowl.

Outrigger teams are co-ed and consist of five people, at least two of whom must be women. An outrigger canoe and steersperson are provided on event day, courtesy of the Hanohano Outrigger Canoe Club. The course is 200-meters and the race format is double-elimination.

The Hawaiian luau features music, entertainment, drinks and lunch. Food is provided by Da Kine’s Plate Lunches, while beverages are provided by Kona Brewing Company, Pepsi, Dr Pepper and Aquafina.

Outrigger Challenge 2007The entry fee is $200; $225 after April 21. Each team member receives a t-shirt, beverages, and a ticket to the Wells Fargo Luau.

Registration opens at 8:30 a.m., race instruction at 9 a.m., and the outrigger competition begins at 10 a.m. The luau gets started at noon.
