Lakeside, CA (September 22, 2008) – After ten days of
qualifying and 25,815 shots, the 2008 Barona $1 Million Hole-in-One Shootout –
A Pacific Life Holiday Bowl Production – concluded today with the finals at
Barona Creek Golf Club.Twenty-four
golfers qualified for the contest finale by winning one of ten qualifying days,
or hitting a hole-in-one at Stadium Golf Center in Mission Valley, September
8-12 and 15-19.
By landing a shot fourteen feet, four inches from the hole,
18 year-old Matt Sparks of San Diego took home the first-place prize of a
weekend golf getaway for two (2) at Barona Creek Golf Course.With his second shot, just a little over 15
feet from the hole, Sparks was the second place winner as well. The top five
finalists all received prizes for placing.If Sparks or any of the other 24 shootout participants had hit a
hole-in-one, they would have won $1 million.
