Tijuana High School Football Players Recognized
December 12, 2008
At a press conference earlier today at the Puebla Amiga Hotel in Tijuana, Pacific Life Holiday Bowl officials presented awards to the offensive and defensive Tijuana high school football players of the year.
The defensive honor went to Juan Carlos Berrelleza Palma of Aguilas del Instituto Mexico. The offensive award was presented to Gilberto Aguirre Santacruz of Prepatoria Federal Lazaro Cardenas.
For their on-field accomplishments, each of their schools received $1,000 grants for their respective football programs. This generous contribution was made possible by program sponsors – CBS Outdoor, the National City Mile of Cars and XEXX Radio.
The student-athletes will be recognized on the field during the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl on December 30th, and the bowl game’s Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade presented by San Diego County Credit Union on December 29th.
The popularity of American-style tackle football has been increasing considerably in recent years. This is the eighth year the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl has presented these awards in Tijuana.
