Barona Keeps Bowl Fund-Raiser Swinging Another Year

Barona Resort & Casino and Barona Creek Golf Club have extended a sponsorship contract that will provide them with continued naming rights of the non-profit Pacific Life Holiday Bowl’s $1 Million Hole-in-One Shootout in 2009. Barona has been the title sponsor of this important annual fund-raising activity since 2002.
“Barona has made it known that giving back to the community is one of their highest priorities,” said Bruce Binkowski, Executive Director of the bowl game. “We are so honored that our efforts merit their ongoing support. The Barona $1 Million Hole-in-One Shootout is a very popular event and serves as one of our strongest annual fund-raising activities.”
The 21st annual Barona $1 Million Hole-in-One Shootout begins Monday, September 7 and runs through Friday, September 18 at the Stadium Golf Center, located off I-15 at Aero Drive. The event is closed Saturday and Sunday, September 12 and 13. Hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
“In today’s economic climate, we believe it is more important than ever to support the promotion of San Diego as a tourist destination, as well as other activities that benefit our local economy,” said Councilman Adam Reyes of the Barona Band of Mission Indians. “The $1 Million Hole-in-One Shootout is a big part of the success of the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl and we are proud to be a sponsor once again.”
Daily prizes will be awarded to the top ten golfers who come closest to the 125-yard hole each day. One winner from each day of the Shootout, as well as any golfer who sinks a hole-in-one, will advance to the Final Shootout at Barona Creek Golf Club on Monday, September 21. An ace at the Final will win a golfer $1 million.
This event serves as a fund-raiser for the non-profit Pacific Life Holiday Bowl, a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to generate tourism, exposure, economic benefit and civic pride for San Diego and its citizens by producing the nation’s most exciting college football bowl game and festival of events.
