Jack in the Box® Extends Tournament Title Sponsorship
March 16, 2009
Image Jack in the Box® has extended its longtime title sponsorship of the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl’s 3-on-3 basketball tournament an additional three years. The extension is for sponsorship through the 2011 event. Jack in the Box has served as the tournament’s name-in-title partner since its inception in 1989.

“We are so appreciative of Jack in the Box’s ongoing sponsorship of this important bowl fund-raising event,” said Bruce Binkowski, executive director of the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl. “This annual weekend of basketball at Crown Point Shores truly has become a tradition for hoopsters all around the county. Plain and simple, it would not happen without the support of Jack in the Box.”

The 2009 Jack in the Box “Hoops at the Beach” tournament returns to the Mission Bay site May 16th and 17th. More than 150 teams are expected to participate in the tournament, making it the largest annual event of its kind in the region. In addition to 3-on-3 tournament action, event participants and spectators can enter slam dunk, free throw, 3-point, 2-ball and H-O-R-S-E contests. Big Brothers and Sisters of San Diego County is the event's beneficiary.

ImageWhile entry fees range between $75 and $100 per four-person team, each entry includes a t-shirt and at least two games in double elimination or round-robin play. There are 12 divisions for boys and men, and six divisions for girls and women. Both can compete in the Open, 3rd/4th Grade, 5th/6th Grade, 7th/8th Grade, 9th/10th Grade and 11th/12th Grade divisions. Men also can compete in the Elite, 6’0 & under, 6’3 & under, Masters (30 & over), Super Masters (40 & over), and Senior Masters (50 & over) divisions. Kids divisions through 8th grade will play Sunday only, during Family Day.

Teams will receive $10 off their entry fee if they attach a combo meal receipt from any Jack in the Box® restaurant to the entry form. A limited number of complimentary entries are also available for military personnel, courtesy of Lincoln Military Housing.

This event serves as a fund-raiser for the non-profit Pacific Life Holiday Bowl, a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to generate tourism, exposure, economic benefit and civic pride for San Diego and its citizens by producing the nation’s most exciting college football bowl game and festival of events.

For information and entries, visit PacificLifeHolidayBowl.com or call (619) 283-5808.
