Nearly 100 golfers grabbed their clubs yesterday and played the Willow Glen Course at Sycuan Golf Resort to raise funds for the non-profit Pacific Life Holiday Bowl.
Most were longtime bowl supporters and tournament participants, but it was four relative unknowns who took the spotlight and claimed the 2009 championship. Victor Hourani, Victor Hourani, Jr., John Scholari and David Garcia shot a Pacific Life Holiday Bowl Golf Classic record net score of 43.5. The format was a best-ball scramble.
Other tournament winners include:
Closest to the Pin (#6) – Craig MacDonald
Straightest Drive (#8) – Barry Jung
Men’s Longest Drive (#16) – Kurt Thrasher
Closest to the Pin (#18) – Sean Ciemiewicz
Each participant was provided a hearty lunch, on-course beverages and a heavy hors d’oeuvres reception. Each golfer also received a $100 gift certificate for Donovan’s Steak & Chop House and a bag watch courtesy of LM Capital Group.
Other sponsors included Wells Fargo, the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, Senior Resource Group, The Bus Bank, EDCO, San Diego Business Journal, XX Sports Radio, San Diego 1700 AM, Amtrak and Pacific Life.
