Rady Children's Hospital Named Charity of Choice
December 14, 2009
The Pacific Life Holiday Bowl announced today that Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego has been designated the charity of choice for the 2009 game.
“We are so pleased to bring Rady Children’s Hospital on board as our 2009 beneficiary,” said 2009 Bowl President Barbara Warden. “We are eager to roll up our sleeves and do what we can to provide the hospital an effective platform to raise awareness and funds.”
As the only pediatric hospital in the San Diego region, Rady Children’s is a safety net for the thousands of children who visit the Hospital every year. Recently ranked among the nation’s best in six specialties, Rady Children’s has the region’s only designated pediatric trauma center, a Pediatric Critical Care unit, a Neonatal Intensive Care unit, and the only comprehensive pediatric Cancer Care Center in San Diego.
“As a non-profit hospital, we rely heavily on philanthropy to provide modern facilities, advanced technologies and comprehensive patient care,” said David B. Gillig, FAHP, Senior Vice President & Executive Director at Rady Children's Hospital Foundation. “We are deeply grateful to the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl for helping us support these life-saving objectives.”
The 32nd annual Pacific Life Holiday Bowl kicks off at 5 p.m., Wednesday, December 30th at Qualcomm Stadium. The 2009 game matches the Arizona Wildcats against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. It is sold out and will be nationally televised on ESPN.
