The scenic, bayside streets of downtown San Diego will come alive with the 2009 Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade, presented by San Diego County Credit Union - a Pacific Life Holiday Bowl Production.

 

As always, this exciting family event brings together world-class marching bands, magnificent floats, entertaining drill teams, and a procession of enormous balloons-more than any other parade! Over 100,000 street-side spectators will enjoy the parade along with a nationwide television audience.

 

Parade festivities will begin in the television area with the finals of the 14th annual Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals and the Bumble Bee Foods 5K. After the parade, activity will continue on at the Broadway Pier with games, entertainment at the annual Family Festival, sponsored by Amtrak and Bank of America.

 

ImageThe parade telecast is produced by Cox Communications and can be seen locally on Channel 4 San Diego. The parade will also be televised nationally.

Volunteer
The Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade, presented by the San Diego Country Credit Union, needs hundreds of volunteers to assists with parade operations. Volunteers are needed to carry balloons, banners, assist with the 5K run and post-parade activities. Minimum age is 15 for balloon handlers and 5 for banner-handlers (with adult supervision).

Trolley Service
The Trolley will provide special event “Red Line” service direct to the Parade every 15 minutes from Qualcomm Stadium starting at 7:37 am with the last direct train departing at 8:37 am. Parking at Qualcomm is free on Parade Day. And families who park and ride from Qualcomm can pick up a punch-out MTS bus or trolley (while supplies last) starting at 7:30 am! A Day Pass is $5 and kids 5 and under ride free. Riders who are Seniors or Disabled pay a one-way fare of $1.25. After the Parade, the Special Event Line will resume for approximately one-hour.  For more information, visit www.sdmts.com.

            Registration (December 15 thru December 26)......................... $20.00*
                  *A $2.00/event processing fee will be assessed to your order.

*NOTE: All orders placed after December 13th will not be mailed. To obtain your tickets, you must come to the bowl office or pick them up at the event.

There is no assigned seating in the grandstands. A ticket guarantees you a seat, and the seats are first-come, first-served.
