Final Shootout for LM Capital Group $1 Million Hole-in-One Shootout held at Carlton Oaks Golf Course
SAN DIEGO – The ten day qualifying event for the LM Capital Group $1 Million Hole-in-One Shootout concluded Monday morning with the Final Shootout at Carlton Oaks Golf Course. Finalists each earned a spot in the Final Shootout by hitting a hole-in-one over the course of the ten day fundraising event for the Holiday Bowl held at Stadium Golf Center. Fifteen golfers lined up to take a total of 22 shots at the million dollar pin. While nobody hit an ace at the 30th annual event, it was a familiar face who claimed top honors.
Robert Welsh, a veteran of the Holiday Bowl’s annual event was the top finisher, for the third time in the event’s history. His shot landed 14 feet, 5 ½ inches from the 170-yard hole. Welsh entered the Final Shootout with three attempts earned during the qualifying rounds at Stadium Golf Center, Sept. 7-11 and Sept. 14-18. He went home with a pair of round trip tickets courtesy of Southwest Airlines, a foursome at Rancho Bernardo Country Club and four tickets to a Chargers game. Welsh plans to use his winnings to visit his family back home.
Second place went to another veteran of the shootout, Oscar Lopez, who won the grand prize last year. His shot of 25 feet, 6 inches earned him second place this year. Third place went to Kyle Koop, who hit 28 feet from the pin.
