This turned into a blowout in the third quarter. Ohio State led 17-10 at halftime, but an 18-yard touchdown run by Tim Spencer, his second of the game, helped the Buckeyes build a 34-10 lead.

Spencer finished with 169 yards rushing and was named the game's offensive MVP. BYU quarterback Steve Young completed 27 of 45 passes for 341 yards and two touchdowns.
