While this Pacific Life Holiday Bowl-produced parade steps off at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, the parade will air on the network at 9 a.m. EST/PST on Friday, December 28. The parade will march along San Diego Bay on North Harbor Drive in front of more than 100,000 spectators. The parade is televised live locally on Channel 4 San Diego and is rebroadcast five times. The telecast is produced by Cox Communications.
The sponsorship underwriting from the Port of San Diego, San Diego County Credit Union, Pacific Life and several others enabled the bowl committee to secure the network partner.
“The parade committee has worked tirelessly to build the parade to this level,” said 2007 Pacific Life Holiday Bowl President, Rudy Castruita. “This event now affords San Diego yet another effective vehicle to showcase our beautiful city to people all around the nation.”
The parade is recognized as America’s Largest Balloon Parade, presenting more inflatables than any parade in the country. The 2007 balloon lineup includes Cat in the Hat, Thomas the Tank Engine and Hello Kitty. The theme of the parade is “Groovin’ to the 70’s”, recognizing the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl’s 30th anniversary. The Grand Marshal is retired San Diego Padres pitching great Randy Jones.
Streetside viewing for the parade is free, though a limited number of grandstand tickets are available for $15. For information, visit PacificLifeHolidayBowl.com or call 619/283-5808.
