Annual Jack in the Box “Hoops at the Beach” benefits the nonprofit Holiday Bowl
SAN DIEGO – The Jack in the Box® “Hoops at the Beach” 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament – the largest of its kind in San Diego – returns to Mission Beach on May 14-15. The annual event, now in its 29th year, attracts teams from all over San Diego, and serves as a fundraiser for the nonprofit San Diego Bowl Game Association.
Registration is currently open for the 3-on-3 tournament. Kids’ teams (grades 3-8) are $65, high school teams are $90, and adult teams are $115. Pricing is for a four-person team entry and includes at least two games in double elimination or round-robin play, a t-shirt and goody bag for each team member. The final entry deadline is Friday, May 13 at 4:00 p.m.
Competition is open to all ages and skill levels. There are 12 divisions for boys and men, six divisions for girls and women, a co-ed division, a wheelchair division and a Pac-12/Big Ten alumni division. There are age divisions for both genders ranging from 3rd to 12th grade. Men can compete in the Elite, 6’0 & under, 6’3 & under, Men’s Open, Masters (30 & over), Super Masters (40 & over), and Senior Masters (50 & over) divisions. Women can also compete in the Women’s Open division. Kids divisions 3rd through 8th grade will play Sunday only. A limited number of complimentary entries are available for military personnel, courtesy of Wells Fargo.
In addition to 3-on-3 tournament action, fans can participate in the San Diego County Kia Dealers Slam Dunk Contest, the San Diego Chargers 3-Point Shootout and the MetroPCS Free Throw Challenge over both days. The Super Q food truck will be on-site selling food and beverages.
