SAN DIEGO (November 30, 2018) – The 24th annual Solar Turbines 5K Run/Walk at the Port of San Diego Holiday Bowl Parade will take place on Sunday, Dec. 31 along downtown San Diego’s scenic bay front.
The race will start at 9:45 a.m. on the corner of North Harbor Drive and West Ash Street and will follow a parade route expected to be lined with 100,000 spectators. The race course will proceed south along North Harbor Drive, continue behind the San Diego Convention Center and finish near Ruocco Park, just north of Seaport Village.
Upon reaching the finish line, participants can enjoy the procession of bands, balloons and floats from the parade, which will begin at 10 a.m. A post-race party with live music and refreshments will round out the event.
All participants will receive a tech t-shirt as well as a finisher medal. Awards will be given to the top three male and female 5K finishers in each age division.
The early-bird registration deadline is December 6 early-bird fee is $35. Standard registration is $40 and race day registration is $45. To register, visit www.HolidayBowl.com. Participants are encouraged to arrive early to find parking, which will be available in various pay lots in the downtown area.
This race is part of the festivities surrounding the San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl. This year’s 41st annual game will be played on Monday, Dec. 31 at 4 p.m. and will be televised nationally on FS1. Each year the SDCCU Holiday Bowl matches up football teams from the Pac-12 and Big Ten conferences.
