San Diego Bowl Game Association Launches 10-Week Countdown to 2014 Games

SAN DIEGO – In recognition of several milestones and highlights, the San Diego Bowl Game Association (SDBGA) is launching a 10 Week Countdown to the 2014 National University Holiday Bowl and the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. Beginning the week of October 13, fans can follow the march towards the 2014 postseason games via a rebranded website, its social media sites and additional media outlets that will showcase highlight videos, Q&As, top 10 lists and other informative and fun notes.

National University Holiday Bowl – 5:00 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014
The National University Holiday Bowl unveils a new matchup in 2014. For the next six years, “America’s Most Exciting Bowl Game” will feature top teams from the Big Ten and Pac-12 Conferences. This year marks the 37th edition of the annual game that has become a San Diego tradition.

San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl – 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014
With at least six wins, the U.S. Naval Academy Midshipmen will have a spot reserved in this year’s SDCCU Poinsettia Bowl and will play a school from the Mountain West. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the game and in addition, celebrates 10 years together with its title sponsor, San Diego County Credit Union.

Bowl Game Radio returns for its third season, beginning at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 15 on The Mighty 1090. SDBGA Executive Director Bruce Binkowski and Associate Executive Director Mark Neville host a one-hour program that will include team selection updates with former college and NFL coach Ted Tollner, insightful features, late-breaking bowl and college football news, and interviews with names in and around the games, past and present. It will air Wednesdays at 6p each week thru Dec. 17.

With the guidance of local agency, MJE Marketing, the SDBGA has unveiled a new website that offers fans a more complete look at the latest news, schedules, events and updates on both games: In addition to news and notes, here fans will be able to plan a trip to San Diego, purchase game tickets and find information on what to do and where to go in and around San Diego.
